Amebis Presis Mini
Amebis Presis Mini is the basic user interface to aid your translation. Its advantages are speed and simplicity of use, a customizable user interface, and excellent cooperation with other programs through the clipboard. It can be used as a dictionary or as a translator.
Introduction To the Translation System
When you run Amebis Presis Mini, it is displayed as a single-line toolbar above the system tray, and contains the following buttons and fields:
- Menu
- Delete Button (for input and translation fields)
- Input Field
- Translate Button
- Button for saving the contents of the translation field onto the clipboard
- Translation Field
This handy interface allows you to keep a dictionary constantly active on the desktop while you work.
If one line is not enough for your translation, you can expand the window as you wish.
If you do not like the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, you can drag and drop it somewhere else, where you will still be able to expand or shrink it.
The basic use of Amebis Presis Mini is to type or paste a word, phrase, sentence or text, into the input field through the clipboard, and then initialise translation.
If you enable clipboard monitoring in the menu, Amebis Presis Mini will automatically translate any change on the clipboard.
That means if you put a selected chunk of text on the clipboard, its translation will immediately appear in the translation field.
The fastest way to copy it back to the desired application is to press the Save translation field button to save the translation onto the clipboard, and then Paste it in the application.
Amebis Presis Mini can also be used as a dictionary. Because of the gradually increasing number of translations and because of the translator's ability to translate individual words, it is obvious how useful it can be as a dictionary.
A number of features give it an advantage over traditional electronic dictionaries:
- In content, the dictionary reflects modern usage, without unnecessary obsolete words. It grows through the addition of the most common words and phrases in modern language.
- Judging by the number of words, our dictionary is already in the middle-size category of dictionaries with over 30,000 units, which are being added on a daily basis.
- The handy Amebis Presis Mini interface allows you to keep a dictionary constantly active on the desktop while you work. You can use it automatically through the clipboard from any other program.
- As opposed to other dictionaries which require you to enter words in their base form, Amebis Presis allows you to enter a word in any of its grammatical forms, and also produces a translation in the appropriate form. No traditional dictionary can do that.
- You can translate phrases and complete sentences directly. No traditional dictionary offers this feature.
- The Amebis Presis Pro user interface allows you to build your own dictionary and add new translations for words and sentences. Amebis Presis Mini will use these as well, and will assign them equal or greater priority than the program's own translations. This is especially useful for translations of specialized texts (engineering, medicine etc.), where the normal general dictionaries are insufficient, and no specialized terminological dictionaries exist.
